The Great Snow of 2010!

We had the 4th biggest snowfall in Pittsburgh history yesterday. Outside our home, there are about 24 inches of the beautiful white stuff. The picture above is of Allison playing on the over 8 feet mound of snow that the snow plow plowed to the end of our lot. Our townhouse is the last one in by the woods and due to this mound of snow, we've lost our 3 parking spaces that are directly in front of our home.

These next 8 pictures were taken at 5 a.m. while the snow was still coming down.
This pic is out of our front door. As you can see, I couldn't even open the door. Thank goodness we have a service that shovels our walks!

Look at the snow on the fence post and lamp pole!
As you can see, it's was still coming down very heavily. It actually snowed for 24 hours solid.
My poor arborvitae was split in 3 by the weight of the snow. It was very wet heavy snow.
This was just on the front porch. There is a 6 inch step down too but I couldn't reach to put the yardstick there to measure.
Where did my walkway go???
Can you tell how excited she was to get out in the white playland?
Hi Mom!

This wasn't even the highest point.

Anyone want to go sliding??
Yes, we dug all of these cars out! Everyone pitches in so it didn't take all of us long to dig 7 cars out.
Anyone for a game of basketball?
The wind started to blow after I took this picture and all the snow on these trees created another mini blizzard.
This is my van. The part that really stunk was once you cleaned the vehicle off, you then had to shovel the snow out around your vehicle. It was well over the tires.

So beautiful!

The Morning View from My Window!

Breathtaking!

I can't tell you how wonderful it was to wake up to see this out my front window!

I am a winter person and the snow is so beautiful and peaceful to me!

Thank you God for sending this girl into 2010 with such an amazing display of your handiwork. I've had some tough times this year but witnessing such a lovely snowfall this morning reminds me that you are greater than anything I encounter here on earth. I know you are here beside me and with you I can get through anything.

My Saturday So Far!

I'm having trouble getting things crossed off of my "To Do" list today.
I can't seem to get motivated to do my chores.
You see there's a beautiful thing happening outside today and I keep going to the window and door to look out. I feel like a kid in a candy store!
It's just beautiful!
This is the view from my front door.

Here is a close-up of one of the trees in the woods beside us. I just love how the snow lays on the branches as if it's hugging each one of them.

Here is my front walk to the parking lot. I don't know if you can really see how high the snow is on either side of the walk. I think we have about 8 inches right now. The front porch and the walk have been shoveled 6 times today...4 by me, 1 by our service & 1 by our neighbor. I'm sure there will be more since it's supposed to go on until 6 A.M. tomorrow morning. :)

We are the end unit in a row of townhouses. Ours is the last one in by the woods. We love it here. It's so quiet and secluded. I only wish it was bigger and we had more space (but that's another post.) Anyway, we all park our cars in front of our units but not last night. We knew this snow was coming so we all parked on the opposite side of the lot. We do this in preparation for the snow plow. When we hear him start plowing on our side, we all run out and start to clean our cars so we can move them back to in front of our units and then he plows that side. This was a feat today! I think there is more than 8 inches of snow out there! It really wasn't so bad doing it today even with all that snow. All of our neighbors help each other. It makes it go so much faster. As you can see, we moved them all back over there. We know he'll be back. He'll come back to plow the next however many inches that are still coming!

Look at all that snow on the bush that I hate that I am taking out this Spring!
LOL! I say "I" like I'm really going to take it out myself!

It's STILL snowing!

Yes! It's still snowing! Ugh! School is closed again for the second day in a row after it was delayed on Monday for two hours! Normally I wouldn't care but I took a vacation from work this week. I took it to get some big projects done around the house. I needed to get some major cleaning and decluttering done. I needed to get some things organized. All of this can not be done with Allison around. She wants me to play or she wants to help me. I love when she helps but her helping me is sure to turn any job from a half an hour job to infinity! So for now I'll put my list on the back burner and enjoy my daughter. After all, she is what I wished for my whole life. If you stop by my house, please don't look in my closets, judge me by the stack of mail in the corner that needs attention or criticize me because of the growing laundry pile. It's not what life is all about.

Last night after Curtis got home from work, he took Allison sled riding on the little hill next to the house. I'm not so good at action shots but I still love them just the same. As you can see they are a little dark because we were losing daylight.
I think this is my favorite. It was one of the first runs down on the new sled. I think they were both shocked at how fast this sled goes.
Allison's hands are not that big! We couldn't find her gloves so she had to wear a pair of mine.
LOL! I just asked Allison what she was thinking when she covered her eyes. She said "I don't know. I wasn't thinking anything, actually!"
She's got her Daddy fooled. She wanted to play airplane going up the hill. She probably didn't want to walk up so she made a game out of it so he wouldn't notice he was being used!
"Hold on baby! There's a tree at the bottom of the hill"...which she ended up running into anyway!
Making a snow angel...no, I think she just was taking a break here.
I love the look on her face here. I'm not sure what Curtis was doing though. I think he may have realized she was headed for the tree and was going to try and stop her.
Have Fun!
