Happy New Year!

Yet another year has come and gone and as 2007 is just a few hours away, I find myself reflecting on the past year and looking forward to the new one. 2007 brings a chance for new beginnings. A chance to change the things that we are not happy with and a chance to make a difference in our lives and the lives of others.

We had our typical New Year's Eve celebration. I made a bunch of appetizer and finger foods and we "have a picnic on the coffee table" as Allison puts it. This year Allison invited my sister, Alesia, so she came for the day and is spending the night. This picture of Allison and Curtis was taken tonight. I think it's my new favorite of the two of them.

I'm going to make this short but I wanted to take a minute to wish all of you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

Have Fun!

A Week in Review in Pics!

Hey Everyone! I tried posting last week but Blogger wouldn't let me upload pictures. It wouldn't let me again today so I finally accepted the newer version and SHAZAM, it let me upload as many as I wanted! So.....here is our week in review!

Allison's school Christmas party was last Friday and I decided to make gifts for all of her classmates. I took little stockings and wrote all of their names on them in gold glitter paint. Then I filled them with a box of crayons and a small candy cane in a treat bag. I had trouble getting my Microsoft Word to work so I had to write out "Merry Christmas from Allison" on all 21 tags! What a pain! We are so spoiled by technology!

Allison had 10 minutes to kill last Friday morning before we had to go catch the bus. I told her she could play in the living room but not to sit on the floor because she had black pants on with her Christmas shirt and it will collect lint from the carpet. She said "Okay, Mom." I never thought about it again until I walked back into the house after putting her on the bus. This picture is what I saw. She is just in love with our tree...just like me. I secretly put some of my favorite ornaments on the side where the couch is so I can sit and stare at them. I love getting up early and just sitting in the dark with nothing but the tree lights on. It is such a warm feeling. I love our "family" tree and all of the stories the ornaments tell. Apparantly, it is like Mother like Daughter in our home...the evidence is in the picture!

How cute is this snowgal? Allison brought it home from school last Wednesday and was so proud to present it to me! Of course, I was SO excited to receive it too! It is her FIRST handmade ornament! I couldn't wait to give it a place of honor on the front of the tree. It's the first ornament I see when I walk into the living room. I love it! She also brought home a tile that she painted with a snowman's face. It's "to put hot stuff on, Mom!" She said it with so excitement! I put it right next to Daddy's chair so he can put his coffee cup on it. She is so proud and I just love the things that she makes. Lately, she has had this thing for hearts. She draws them, colors them and gives them to us. Curtis put one in his wallet so every time he sees it, he thinks of her. I have them all over my refrigerator. Who would have ever thought that something so simple could fill me with such joy?

I needed four little gifts for some people at work and this is what I came up with. I bought the "JOY" tin buckets at Target in the Dollar Spot at the beginning of the Holiday season. I thought they were so cute and for a buck, I couldn't pass them up. I filled them with a couple of sheets of tissue paper in the bottom and 2 Irish coffee mugs with snowmen on them and six packets of assorted flavored hot chocolate by Land O' Lakes. They came out really cute and were a BIG hit! I had two of the buckets left over so I filled them with shredded red and green tissue (I put it through my paper shredder) and a couple of the Home Interiors candles in a jar and they came out just as cute too!

The picture below is a close up of my Nativity. When I sold Home Interiors the first time around I splurged and got it for myself, my sister, my Mother and my best friend, Susan. It's probably my second favorite Holiday decoration next to the tree. I remember as a child sitting and looking at my Mom's and thinking that I could just envision them being real. I am so happy to have a beautiful set for Allison to look at too.
The whole Nativity:

This picture was taken last Saturday, the 23rd. Poor Santa, he looks so tired! Allison had already seen Santa this year at the pancake and sausage breakfast at our church. However, I realized on Saturday that I didn't have my camera with me and didn't get a picture. Well, of course I HAD to have a picture of this event so we took her down to Zelienople where they have a free standing house erected each year for Santa to visit the kids. It is adorable. There is a tree, fireplace and toy boxes in it with a little front porch. It is decorated for Christmas and you can bring your own camera and they only take donations. Afterwards, we were hungry and Curtis surprised us and took us to the Log Cabin Inn for dinner. Even though I had TONS of Christmas prep to still do at home, I didn't stress about it. I just enjoyed this perfect night with my family.

This picture is of our tree. As I said above, I LOVE all of the ornaments and the stories that they tell. A few years ago, I started and "Ornament Scrapbook" for Allison. It is 5 x 7 and each page has a picture of the ornament on it with the story of when she received it, where it came from, who it came from, the reason behind it and any other important information about it. When she leaves home (sniff, sniff) to set up her own home, I will give her all of her ornaments along with the scrapbook.

Here is a pic of Allison in front of the tree. This was taken Christmas Eve after Christmas Mass. Do you see the skinned knee? She was so excited to go to church that when she was trying to get out of the car by herself, she got her foot caught in the seat belt and fell out onto the pavement on both knees. Poor thing!

I have been admiring figurines for years! I LOVE them but I didn't want to buy them myself. They are Willow Tree figurines by Demdaco. I mentioned them to Curtis last year and he gave me one of the ornaments for Christmas. He thinks they are creepy without faces. I think they are beautiful. He took Allison shopping and she picked these three out for me. I think she did great! When she saw the little angel holding the cat with short curly hair, she told her Dad "That one looks like me!" She's right! It does resemble her and it's my favorite. I also love that Curtis took her with him to pick them out for me. They are just that more special because of it.

And last but certainly not least! This little snowman is what Allison picked out at Santa's Workshop at school for me. She was so cute when she brought the presents home. They must have prepared the kids for us to ask what they were because she stood strong and wouldn't tell me. She did however ask me if I liked snowmen...too cute! It is my FAVORITE gift this year! He was in a little basket with three little candles and some red and green tissue paper. He is darling, don't you think?

Have Fun!

Yes Allison, I'm Jelly Belly!!!

I'm busy working on finishing up some Christmas preparations but thought I would take break and share a picture. This is of Allison cuddling with Daddy on the couch. Whenever she kisses and hugs one of us we tease her that we have a jealous belly. She'll look at us and say "Mommy or Daddy, are you jelly belly?" It's one of my favorite games that we play.

Allison's 1st Christmas Program!

Wednesday night was Allison's 1st Christmas Program. Her Kindergarten class sang three songs and recited 3 verses from the Bible. It was adorable! The verses were her memory work for the last couple of weeks. When she brought it home, my first thought was that she will NEVER be able to memorize this! Well, much to my surprise, she had it memorized in a week. This picture is of her on the stage after the program. We were too far back to get a good picture even with the zoom. The outfit is compliments of Grandma Sandy (my best friend's mother). It was Maria's and she saved it because she loved it so much. I agree! She looked so grown up in it and festive! When I put it on her, it definitely needed a necklace and I pulled two of hers that were given to her at her baptism. She had never seen them before and since it was a special occasion, I thought it was time. The first one is a crucifix given to her by my sister and her Godmother, Alesia. The second one was given to her by her Grandma (Curtis's Mom) and is a guardian angel pendant with a guardian angel prayer on the back. She was so excited because she knew they were very special and "good" jewelry. I told her that she could pick one to wear. She didn't take as long as she usually does to think her decision over very carefully to make sure she made the correct choice. She picked the crucifix. I asked her why and she said "It's the more important one."I wondered why she came to that conclusion and she promptly told me "because he's our savior." She surprises me more and more every day!

These are the verses she recited with her class for the Christmas program:

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

A BIG THANK YOU!

Thank you to all of you who snail mailed, emailed, called or stopped by to wish me a Happy Birthday. I love and appreciate each and every one of you! I thought I got by at work without anyone remembering but then I was called out of my office to the back where all of our employees had gathered with balloons and a cake to sing happy birthday to me. Even though I hate being the center of attention, it made me feel loved and special.

After tucking Allison in for bed, I cuddled with Curtis on our bed to watch a little television. I woke up over 2 hours later not knowing if it was 10:00 at night or morning. I hate when you do that and you think you have missed something. I thought Allison was late for school and I was late for work! Curtis said I fell asleep immediately. I must have been really tired! I went downstairs to redd up (Pittsburgh slang) the kitchen and my sweetie had already done that. He is so wonderful. He took care of dinner and everything. It was a perfect evening except for the head cold. I truly am blessed.

Day 3 & A Very Special Birthday Cake!

It's day 3 for Allison's incentive and so far it's working quite nicely. She is $3 richer and we couldn't be more pleased. Hopefully this trend will continue!

Today is my birthday and I feel like crap! No, not because it's my birthday but because I have this horrible head cold. My head feels like it's going to explode! However, as soon as I got home from work, Allison wanted to bake a birthday cake for me with me. LOL! I think this was the first time that I have ever baked my own birthday cake! I didn't mind though because she was SO excited to be doing this for me. If you have ever read my blog or even know Allison, she LOVES pink! So, she wanted pink icing and then she went for the basket of sprinkles in the pantry. Allison LOVES sprinkles too! They make her totally happy! In fact, they make me happy too! This picture is the finished project. I barely got to snap it before she chopped the cake up to serve me a piece! Too cute! It is a white cake (my very favorite) and lots of pink sugar crystals with pink, red and white hearts and jimmies (the Wilton Valentine mixture). It was delish...a little crunchy with all the fun stuff on top but oh so special! Doesn't she look so proud in the picture? I LOVE that girl!

I'm behind & Allison's Incentive!

It's December 3rd and I am behind in my holiday preparations. This is not how I had planned it this year. I planned to have almost everything wrapped up by now but I always seem to have a wrench thrown into my plans! Oh well, there is still time. I am not going to let myself stress about. It's not worth it! Whatever gets done, gets done and it'll be fine.

Allison has been having trouble behaving all the time. She has misbehaved for us, for the sitter, for the teacher at school and of course, NOT when she has gone to visit either set of Grandparents (Ya, right!) She is very strong willed and doesn't like to be told what to do. Curtis seems to think that she intentionally misbehaves to get a reaction from us or the teacher. He is probably right but SHHH, don't tell him! She is very independent and as her teacher, Mrs. Robinson said "She just digs her heels in and doesn't budge." Where does she get that will? ;) I keep telling myself that as long as we raise her with good values and morals, we will be thankful for her independence when she is a teen. I will pity the teen that tries to get her to take a drink or any thing else that isn't good for her. She probably will not only say "No way!" but if she keeps up this disposition, she will be giving that teen a strong case of why they shouldn't do those things too! Anyway, getting back to the 5 year old Allison. We are starting a new system to monitor her behavior on a daily basis. This is what we did:

(You can click on it to enlarge it)

This is our refrigerator. I have put up labels made from P-Touch for every day of the week and put a dollar bill with a magnet under each day. If Allison's behavior is good for the whole day, she will get to leave the dollar up and she gets to keep her movies (videos & DVD's). If her behavior is unacceptable, she will lose the dollar for that day and also lose a movie. Does this mean she has to be perfect? Of course not. It does mean that she will need to listen to the authority figure the first time they speak. We shouldn't have to repeat ourselves over and over and over again. She is VERY smart and knows exactly what she is doing. This system will hold her accountable and also measure her behavior. Are we paying her to be good? I don't think so. We are giving her incentive to change her behavior. Repetition is one of the most basic learning techniques. We are hoping and praying this will show her that it's so much better to just follow what she is supposed to do and not what she wants to do. At the end of the week, Allison will be able to keep what money is left. I told her that she can do one of three things with it. She can: 1. Save it to spend on our trip to Walt Disney World. 2. Put it in the bank. or 3. Spend it at the store on a toy. Of course, she didn't like any of my choices! She said that she wanted to "give it to the poor people." Isn't that sweet? She is such a good child but when her behavior is bad, it's really bad and REALLY frustrating! I'm praying this will be the thing that works. Time will tell. Oh and by the way, I can't take credit for this system. Marsha (Hi Marsha!), my best friend's sister told me about it. She said that her better half, Ron (Hi Ron!) read it somewhere and told her about it. Thanks Marsha & Ron! I'll let you know if it works!

Random Thoughts from Cindiville!

Hey Everyone! I haven't really had a good post lately so I thought I would share some random thoughts.

~Christmas is ONE month from TODAY!

~Curtis left after work yesterday to go out of state until sometime tomorrow. So, Allison and I are having "girl time." We haven't done much of anything but we are having fun just relaxing and being silly. We both miss Curtis and can't wait to see him!

~Believe me when I tell you that it is HOT in this house! The thermostat is reading 78 and the room it is in is the coolest room in the house. The weather was just perfect today...not cold and snowy and not hot and sweaty. I could have it like this all year!

~I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I tried a new recipe this year and it went over well. Curtis had 3 helpings and my Dad even had 2 and said it was "real good"...which is a huge compliment from my Dad. My brother even tried it and said it was good and he is always difficult! It was a sweet potato recipe that I got off of Heather D. Whites's blog. It is her Aunt Jan's Sweet Potatoes. You have to try it. I promise you'll love it too!

~This is my baker's rack and it has been home to Allison's movies since her collection started. I've weeded a ton of them out but she still has so many. This baker's rack is being moved back into the kitchen where it belongs. My problem is that I have no idea where the movies will go. Any suggestions? This has to happen because our tree is claiming that corner for Christmas. I think after Christmas I am going to have Curtis build me a huge shelf unit to hang on the wall right behind where it currently sits. I can't have something that sits on the floor because the register is on that wall. I saw something in a magazine one time where they made a cabinet and used a huge artist's canvas for the door. They justed used a piano hinge to put it on. I'm thinking that may work since it wouldn't be that heavy of a door. They also had a huge picture of a little girl blown up and decoupaged on it. I was thinking maybe I could decorate it with family photos or something...maybe a much bigger variation of this canvas that I did a while ago.

~Check out my new fuzzy slippers that my sister bought me for my birthday! I know it's a little early but she always gives me my presents on Thanksgiving since I probably won't see her until Christmas. They just about match my new holiday rug that I bought for my entrance.

~Here is a sneak peek at my new bedroom furniture. It's cherry and so beautiful but dangerous! There is a corner on the armoire that sticks out further than my old chest of drawers and I have a nasty bruise on my thigh from it. The bruise is about 6 inches long by 3 inches wide and is disgusting. I thought about taking a picture of it to show you all but I make it a habit to keep this body covered at all times. I wouldn't want to scare any of you! Anyway, I can't wait until the Spring so I can repaint and redo the whole room. I'll be sure to share pics when I have it completed!

~Here's another birthday present! This is from my Mom and Dad. I love Crock Pots! This one is a 6 quart oval one with a hinged lid. How cool is that! The one that I usually use is a 5 quart round and I have to stuff it to the rim sometimes...especially when I do a roast. Mine also only has a low and high setting and this one has a warm setting. I think that will be my favorite feature. I can have the sitter turn it to warm when she gets Allison off the bus and dinner should be perfect by the time Crutis and I get home from work. I can't wait to use it!

~How do you like my new Holiday flag? It's a little wrinkled but those will be gone shortly. I got it from Home Interiors & Gifts. By the way, I'm a new Decorating Consultant for them so if you need anything, let me know! Oh, and check out the sky behind the flag...isn't it gorgeous?

~Look at Allison in a trance! She is just chilling, eating marshmallows & being cute. Can you tell she dressed herself? I didn't mind since it is so hot in here!

~Now playing is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. She has already watched Frosty the Snowman and Santa Claus is Coming to Town is next. I LOVE IT!

~Have you met "Kitty" yet? She is Allison's buddy and we almost lost her at the Chinese restaurant last week. We noticed she wasn't with us in the car only minutes from home. Curtis made an illegal turn (which is so not like him) to head back to the restaurant and I think it was the longest drive EVER! Thankfully, it was still there but I was prepared to put on rubber gloves and go through the trash! It's not like we haven't done that at my restaurant for someone who left their retainer wrapped in a napking on a plate...actually, I believe one of our cooks climbed into the garbage dumpster to find it. YUK! YUK! YUK! Actually, the whole experience reminded me of when my best friend Susan and her daughter, Stephanie (check out her blog here), came to visit me when I lived in Northern Virginia. Stephanie must have been 2-3 and she left "Teddy" on one of the seats at the airport. They had just walked down the jetway to the plane and I heard a commotion and it was Susan in a panic looking frantically for "Teddy." Thankfully, he was found also and is still Stephanie's buddy today. I believe he went to Westminster College with her!

That's it for now!

I'm Still Here!!

I'm just trying to find some extra hours in the day! Do you know where I can get some? I think 5 extra would be good!

I'm looking forward to Wednesday. After I put Allison on the bus, I'll have 8 hours to myself! I have to work on this house. We are picking up some new furniture today and I need to make it fit. This house is too small but I'm not ready to move just yet. I have plans in my head to move some furniture from room to room. Every room will be changed except Miss Allison's room...at her request. So in order to move things around, I am cleaning things out. I am in the decluttering mood again. This is good! We need it! I think I've asked this question before but "WHERE does all this STUFF come from?" Am I the only one with this problem? Please tell me that there are other women that struggle with "thisstuffisdrivingmecrazyitis"...please tell me that I am not alone!

I have to be going but here was Allison's memory work for last week:

Did You Ever See a PINK Mummy?

No? Well check this out! Allison wanted to be a PINK Mummy this year for Halloween. Leave it to my daughter to be original! To be honest with you, it came out better than I thought it would but how could it go wrong with such a little cutie in it! :)

I wasn't sure we were even going to make it to go Trick or Treating because Allison stayed home sick from school on Monday and Tuesday. Monday she had a low grade fever and threw up in morning. She ate a tiny bit of homemade chicken noodle soup, some toast and drank lots of water. She never made it off the couch at all on Monday. On Tuesday, besides still having her cold, she seemed much better. She played all day and was her sweet self. She even had her appetite back. It was a hard decision to know what to do. Do I take her or do I keep her indoors? After talking to my best friend, Susan, on the phone and discussing my dilemma, I decided to take her for a little. We go back to where I grew up and go with my best friend, her sister and her daughter, Maria. Here they are! Don't they look adorable? It was raining so we only went to about a dozen houses and then we went back to my parents' house to dry off and pick up their goodies for Allison. Allison begged for candy so I permitted her to pick one. She thought about it for a while and decided on the Whoppers because "I love them just like my Dad!" We then left for our hour drive home. She and I were hungry so we did McDonald's drive-thru. I know! I know! WHAT was I thinking? After 1 chicken nugget and about 5 fries she said she didn't feel well and passed the food back to me. Earlier in the evening on our way over she was bragging that she hadn't thrown up since yesterday. I teased her and told her that if she feels like she has to throw up to use her Halloween bucket and she said "EWW." Well, thank you Lord for that conversation because she ended up grabbing it and getting sick while I was driving. She is such a trooper and handled it all on her own because I couldn't pull over immediately. After a couple of minutes I was able to pull over but by that time it was all over and she ended up sleeping the rest of the way home. The lesson learned here is that even though your child seems perfectly well after previously being sick, don't give her chocolate and greasy chicken and fries! UGH!!

My New Toy!

:::UPDATE::: A couple of questions were left on this entry about the Seal a Meal being discontinued by Target and whether or not I would be able to still get the bags. The answer is yes, they will still be carrying the bags and they are not discontinuing the Seal a Meal appliance. The new models are all ready in the store and the only difference it the "suck" and "seal" buttons look different. By the way, if when leaving a comment, you could sign your name so I know who you are, that would be awesome!

I have always wanted one of these but have never wanted to spend the money on myself. I was thinking about putting it on my Christmas wish list but now I don't have to! I played hooky from work on Thursday and headed over to Target for some T.P. and other things. Oh, by the way, my boss was cool with my playing hooky. I just told her that I needed a mental health day and that I wasn't going to be in. Since work has been driving us both crazy lately, she just said that she was jealous that I got to stay home and that she would see me tomorrow. Anyway, while at Target, they were marking down all sorts of appliances and putting them on the endcaps. I saw this right away and had to blink when I looked at the red sticker. It says $9.98! YES, you read that right! $9.98! They had 2 and I scooped them both up and put them in my cart. I think I may even have been hyperventilating a little since I rarely get a deal this good! A friend of mine at work and I were just talking about it a couple of weeks ago. I took hers in to her on Friday and she was just as excited as I was!
This picture is my first use of my new toy. I make my lasagna and lasagna casserole with half ground beef and half bulk sausage. I only use a pound of meat in my dishes but I end up with two pounds when I brown off the meats. I usually put it in a freezer bag and smash all the air out of it but it still gets little ice crystals on it since my fridge is a bit old and doesn't seal as well as it should. My new toy sucked all of the air out of it and sealed it with no problem. It is awesome! I can't wait to do more! My mind is racing just thinking of everything I can do with it! This little machine is going to save me time and money. I can make a big batch of meatballs and freeze them in family portions. I can do taco meat ahead of time and all I'll have to do is boil the bag in water for dinner. I can cook off chicken for soups and stews. I can freeze leftovers so if I am going to be late from work all Curtis will have to do is either boil it or microwave it for himself and Allison. Hmm, I get the rotisserie chicken at Sam's Club once in a while and the extra chicken is awesome in chicken noodle soup. This will be perfect for freezing those leftovers. Have I made you think that you can not live without one? I buy my chicken and pork chops from Market Day and they already come in cryovaced but you can buy bulk chicken and such and freeze them in family portions. The possibilities are endless! Oh yum, I just thought of another one...fresh corn on the cob from my Dad's garden in the Summer! Okay, I think I've rambled on enough about this machine! If you have any other ideas, please let me know! I am always up for suggestions that will make my life easier and put good healthy dinners on the table faster!

Have Fun!

My Daughter's Growing GRASS!

I never thought those words would make me happy! Let's just hope this is the only "grass" Allison ever has an interest in! Anyway, two weeks ago, Allison came home from CCD with this cup with about an inch of dirt & seeds planted in it. They are learning about all of the things God gives them...light, water, earth etc. I thought "Oh great, I hope this thing grows because I don't want to have to explain why God didn't follow through with this little project!" Well much to my surprise, it's growing and growing and growing! I love looking at it every day! It's one of the highlights of my day and Allison is so proud! I think I just may get a rectangle planter and grow some of my own. It just gives me a feel good feeling inside to see it, touch it, smell it. I don't know what it is but I love it! Maybe it's that nature/miracle thing all rolled into one. Who knows but I challenge YOU to grow some of your own and send me pictures of your grass! I'll post them on my blog! Who is game? Have YOU Seen This Book?

This is the book Allison picked out and brought home from the library at school last week. We have looked EVERYWHERE for it! We have spent over 7 hours looking for it. It is gone! I called the school to let them know and they were great about it. They said it really isn't a big deal. I think it is. How do you lose a book? The odd thing is that the paper that came home with it about reading so many books a month is right where we thought the book was. So, I ask you "Where is that dang book?" I am giving up. I am sending in the $5.00 the librarian said it would cost to replace the book. Thankfully, it wasn't an expensive book but that is not the point. We never should have lost it. I thought Curtis was reading it to her at bedtime and he thought I was reading it to her in the living room.

Oh well! Enough time wasted on this book. This week she brought a book of Ponies home. We are treating this one like it is gold!

Look What I Found!

I've been busy and haven't had time to post but I had to stop to share this! I found this while cleaning out a drawer. It is from 1997 and the artist is Stephanie! She would have been 9 years old. Didn't she do a great job?

Book Fair, Candles & Grilled Cheese!

I have so many things to share so I am lumping them all together in one post. I hope you can keep up!

Allison had her first book fair this week at school. Since I am off on Wednesdays, I was able to take her to school and shop with her before school started. It was so cute to see her in her school. I met a little girl in her class named Elizabeth and she and Allison showed me all of their classmates first artwork. All of it was laminated and hanging on the wall across from her classroom. We then walked down to the gym where the book fair was held. Allison spotted Derek (yet another "boyfriend") walking down the hall with a couple of other boys. She said in her sweetest voice "Hi Derek!" and that little boy ignored her! You should have seen the look on her face! She was just heartbroken! My heart ached for her but I quickly changed the subject as to not give it too much attention and she was fine. What I really wanted to do was to say "Hey kid! My daughter said hello to you!" I am hoping he just didn't hear her. I can't imagine they start playing the "I'm too cool to say hi to you because I am with my guy friends" game in Kindergarten.

These are the books that Allison picked out. The A-Z Horse Dictionary book she picked over the bug book! I was extremely happy about that! The Bible stories book is really cool and comes with 2 cds of songs that she will be able to listen to when she falls asleep at night. The last book is cool and not only has a story but came with stickers and activities to do. The pages are shiny and it came with a dry erase marker so she can do it over and over again. I also got a book too! It is a recipe book called "Silly Snacks." It has a lot of cute, fun ideas in it for kids. I thought I could do some of them when she has a friend over and I can be the "cool Mom!" Here is just one example of Monster Mouths....isn't it cute? Some of the other recipes are "Purple Cow Jumped Over the Moon" shakes, "Little Piggy Pies", "Silly Snake Sandwich" and "Mud Cups." I can't wait to try some out!
Have you ever burned a Home Interiors' candle? If you haven't, you don't know what you are missing! They are wonderful! I burn them all the time and here are a few of their current candles in a jar. Right now I have Spiced Cider burning in the kitchen and the whole house smells awesome! It smells like Fall. Another one that is new that I got this year is this one. The colors are more vibrant in person than on the computer. As soon as I took it out of the box, Allison said "MOM, it looks like candy corn!" and it does! You should check them out and get some. You can even get them for FREE! I do! I take a candle brochure into work with me and they sell themselves. In fact, people ask me when am I going to be selling candles again. I earn credit by selling them and can pick from candles or anything else in the Home Interiors line. I usually just stock up my stash of candles that I keep in my basement.

Hmmmm! Grilled Cheese...and of course, Campbell's Tomato Soup! You know it's Fall when you make this lunch. Allison loves it just as much as I did when I was a kid! Okay, true confession here! When I was old enough to start making it for myself, I used to pretend that I was taping a cooking show and I was the star! LOL! I can't believe I just typed that! It must have been the beginning of my love of cooking shows. I love watching the cooking shows on Food Network. Allison loves them too. Rachel Ray is her favorite. She will sit and stare at the television and study everything she's doing. Hmm, maybe I have a future chef on my hands...or at least someone to help me cook dinners when she gets older!

Have Fun!

This Update is for Auntie Leonore!

I received an email the other day from Leonore. Leonore is one of my online scrapbooking friends and loves keeping up with all of her cyber nieces and nephews. She said that I left her hanging with the news of Allison's new boyfriend. I had promised to give more later in a previous blog post but then I never updated. The pictures were at Grandma's house and it wasn't worth posting without the pictures. So this is for you Auntie Leonore!

On August 26th my friend Sherie got married. It was an outdoor wedding on the farm where her husband's grandparents lived. Sherie and Jimmy live there now and it was the perfect setting for a beautiful country wedding. Allison had never been to a wedding before and this was the perfect one for her to go to...an outdoor one.

She was so excited to go but who would have thought that it not only was a wedding but the day of her newest crush! Yes, I said NEWEST crush. She's a little flirt and loves the boys! NO, she doesn't get that from me at all! It must in her genes because her Daddy can be a flirt too...he's going to kill me for posting that! Anyway, as we were standing in line for the buffet, Sherie and her stepson, Will were walking by us. I had stopped her to ask something and Allison said something to Will. I didn't hear it but he looked up at Sherie and she said "Go ahead" to him. Allison then took his hand and they started to walk in the field hand in hand. She had asked him to go for a walk! How about that?!? He's an older man!!! She just turned 5 in July and he is 10! What is THAT all about?!?

After dinner, the dancing music started and Allison showed no shyness and was the first out on the floor with Sherie's niece Maddie. I didn't even know she knew that there would be dancing at a wedding but she just jumped right in. I am not sure what she is doing here but it's too funny not to post.

Then the slow songs started and she wanted to dance with Will. He was such a trooper and danced with her and some of the other little girls. Allison is just so infatuated with him. You can see by the look on her face in this picture that she is as she says "a little in love." Too cute...but scary if this is a peek into our future! The next day (Sunday), I asked her if she wanted to go to Grandma's since Saturday is usually her day to go visiting. Her reply was, "Yes, I couldn't go yesterday because I had my big date with Will." What????? I think I'm in trouble! I asked her why she wanted to dance with him and she said "because he looked handsome in that outfit." What????? Where did she come up with that?!?

Fast forward to a couple of weekends later. Allison and I went out on a Saturday to a couple of yard sales. After the last one she asked where we were going next. I told her home. She asked if we could go visit Will so she wouldn't have to remember what he looked like! Have I mentioned that I am TIRED of hearing about Will?!?!? He's a nice young man and all but give me a break! She is FIVE...not fifteen!

Have Fun!

Tough Day at School?

This is what I came home to last night. My exhausted little girl crashed out on Daddy's chair listening to her cd player. She may be a "big girl" because she goes to school and has a booster seat in the car but she is still my precious little baby.

Why do they have to grow up?

Allison's Memory Work

Each week on Monday or Tuesday, Allison's teacher sends home her memory work. She is to memorize a bible verse and recite it to the teacher every Friday. I got to thinking that it would be a good addition to my blog. So with that being said, here is this week's verse:

"Every good promise of the Lord your God has come true."

Happy Birthday Sweetie!

Today is my man's birthday! Happy Birthday Curtis! I am glad you are in my life! I love you!

Allison and I made him a Boston cream pie for his cake. Allison wanted to put thirtysomething candles on his cake and finally after searching everywhere, I came up with just enough. Curtis wasn't too happy with all the candles but he gets no sympathy from me! He takes every opportunity to tease me about the fact that I am older than him so this was one time that he gets to feel old! Do you see the funny car on his cake? It was Allison's decorative touch!

I'm Still Here!

I've just been really busy. I went back to work this past week and I'm trying to balance everything and keep us on a schedule so I don't lose my mind! I went to bed at 8:20 pm on Friday night and didn't wake until 7 am Saturday morning. I think the week caught up with me. I'm going to run now and finish up some laundry and cleaning before Allison and Curtis get home from his parents' house. I will try to post later about Allison's new "boyfriend" that she is "a little in love with" but for now, here is a picture of one of our roses. Curtis gave me this rose bush a few years ago for Mother's Day and this is the second year we've had roses. This is the 17th from the bush and we should have one more this week. It was supposed to be yellow but isn't the salmon beautiful? Yes, those are raindrops on the petals. It was raining the day Curtis took the picture. I wasn't home but he did a good job, didn't he. I think my obsession with photos is rubbing off on him!

All Things Grow with Love!

I just went outside to do my fall clean-up on the back deck but I can't do it. My flowers and plants are just thriving and I just can't get rid of them yet! I moved a couple of the pots to the front so we can appreciate them more until the very end of the season. I am sure by then, I'll be ready to put the cornstalks and mums out for fall. Click here to see what the pots looked like at the beginning of the summer and here they are now and, as always, you can click on the image to enlarge:
