A "Sweet" Find!

I'm still busy getting things ready for Allison's First Holy Communion on Saturday but I have to take a moment to share this "sweet" find.

I stopped by the florist yesterday to order the flowers for Saturday and saw this on the counter in the back. It's a flower cupcake and it is too cute! It's meant for birthdays but I was thinking of sending one to Allison's teacher next week for Teacher Appreciation Day....because she is so "sweet." Her favorite color is yellow so the girl at the florist suggested a yellow "paper" filled with hot pink carnations so she could keep the yellow bottom. I like that idea!

Below are some more I found online. I'm usually not a carnation person but I think the carnations resemble icing better than the daisies and roses. What do you think?

Quick Update!

Hey Friends!

I'm just stopping by to say "Hi" while I wait to pick Allison up from C.C.D. and then we are heading to Mass.

I've been crazy busy lately and haven't had time to post or read the blogs that I stalk! I've said it before but I don't know how you Moms with more than one child do it! It takes everything in me to keep on track and not forget or miss anything.

My main focus right now is Allison's First Holy Communion. It's this coming Saturday. Woo Hoo! I am so excited! I can't believe it's here. I've been busy trying to get everything ready for it while still managing to stay on top of school stuff and Brownie stuff and anything else that gets thrown my way.

I am happy to report that I was able to whiten the dress. If you don't know what I'm talking about, see this post. When I picked it up from my Mom it was yellow and I mean YELLOW. I contacted Cindy from My Romantic Home to see how she gets the stains and such out of the beautiful antique lace tablecloths she purchases and she said she uses OxiClean. So I threw caution to the wind and mixed it with very hot water and put the dress in. I didn't think anything happened but when I dumped the water out it was discolored so I did it again and again. After 3 batches of OxiClean and 9 hours later, I have a white dress! I am so excited! It's not stark white which is perfect for me because it is 36 years old and the style is definitely vintage. Allison is excited to be wearing my dress and that just warms my heart!

I'll be sure to share everything with you after next Saturday. The pic above is part of the invitations that I made. I'm sure it would have been much easier to just purchase them but not me. I can't do anything the easy way. I have to put my creative touch on it. I also made the pew banner and I'm undecided on the cake just yet. I may make that too but I think it will be less stress if I just design it and have the bakery do it. We'll see.

Have Fun!

The Moms have been Framed!

We had Mom's Craft Night Out a couple of Friday's ago and I never got the chance to post any pictures. Actually, I didn't take many at all. I sort of got caught up in the friends, craft and fun that I forgot to take them. Then of course at the end my batteries died in my camera! Thankfully Susan had her daughter's camera with her and helped me out with some of the finished frames. Thanks Susan! There were many great ones but we remembered the pictures after most everyone was gone.

Anyway. We decorated wooden picture frames like the one I made for my Mom's birthday in February. You can click here to see a list of supplies and the instructions.

The one above is the one that I made. I made it to put in Allison's room to hold one of my favorite pictures of her last birthday. The picture came out funny when I took this pic but it's one of Allison enjoying her birthday cake. I LOVE the look on her face. It says to me that she's enjoying her birthday and I did a good job! By the way...Aren't the daffodils beautiful? She surprised me with them when she came back from visiting Grandma and Pa Pa. She's so thoughtful!

Here are a small sampling of the gorgeous frames the Moms made. Be sure to click on the pics for a closer look!
Some more:

This one didn't come out so great in the picture but it's adorable. Susan D. made it for her teen aged daughter, Lauren.

Susan C. made this one for her daughter who is a Junior in College for her dorm room. It's her school colors.

A couple of graduation ones in gold and silver.

This one that Susan C. made is very classy. We are still looking for the right embellishment for the bottom right hand corner.

This picture came out blurry but I had to include it. I think it's one of my top favorites. Susan C. made this one and it's just gorgeous! The little metal plaque says "forever" ...get it "stars & stripes forever?"
Next month we are making Family Name Boards so be sure to check back to see how they turned out. I promise to take more pictures!

A Found Treasure!

I found this little 3 x 3 inch treasure in the bottom of Allison's book bag. I asked her about it and she said that she did it during recess. She said that they had read a story about storms and then she did this at that day's recess. I asked her if they talked about glass in the story and she said no. She said she learned it from the glass blower that we went to a couple of months ago. (It was a Brownie trip.) She said she borrowed the teacher's marker to write the words because it was hard to see them in pencil over the picture. She also said that her teacher liked it so much that she had her read it to the whole class.
She was proud of herself.
I am proud of her too.
I am always surprised at what she remembers in detail.
I love how it comes out of her at a later date.
I love how she loves learning and retains the knowledge that she learns.
I love learning about new things through her and with her.
I love being her Mom. "Storms can be scary even if you know this fact. Weather can form glass! Well the lightning hits sand and it forms glass. And volcanos can form glass too. Lava rock turns into sand and lava turns into glass and meteors hit sand, so just remember after the lightning forms glass smile at the rainbow!"

A Sunday Morning Tag!

I'm sorry I haven't been the best blogger lately. I just haven't felt up to it.

Anyway. I was tagged by Benita yesterday for a photo tag. It sounds like a lot of fun so here it goes:

The tag how-to...
Go to the photos folder on your computer.
Go to the seventh folder of photos.
Go to the seventh photo.
Put the seventh photo on your blog along with a description.
Invite seven friends to join.

Here's my photo:
What a great photo for this tag! A picture of my two favorite people in the whole world! It was taken on July 4, 2007 when we went to see fireworks. A couple of things that I notice when I look at this are that Allison's hair was much shorter and her cheeks were so much fuller than now.

I'm real bad about tagging other people individually. So if you are reading this, consider yourself tagged! ;)

This tag was a fun and easy one so please join in. Make sure you leave a comment with a link to your blog so I can check out what you have sitting in your 7 folder of pictures!
Have Fun!
