Happy Independence Day!

I hope all of you have a happy and safe Fourth of July! This picture is obviously of fireworks in Washington D.C. and that is the Washington Monument. When I was a young adult I used to live in Northern Virginia. I've rode the Metro downtown for the fireworks several times. It's very moving to be standing there seeing this view in person. I still remember the feeling I had the first time. You are standing there shoulder to shoulder amongst thousands of people while the fireworks go off. As you can see in the picture, the Washington Monument stands tall right in the middle of it all. It's just so overwhelming to be standing there celebrating our freedom in our nation's capital, witnessing this view while the the song "Proud to be an American" plays loudly over the loud speakers. It really makes you realize how lucky we are to be Americans!
As you go about your day, please take a moment to thank those who made our freedom possible because remember...
Freedom isn't Free!

I have no quote today but I thought I would share the lyrics to Lee Greenwood's "Proud To Be An American" song.

If tomorrow all the things were gone,I’d worked for all my life. And I had to start again, with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my lucky stars,to be livin here today.‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom, and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,to the hills of Tennessee.Across the plains of Texas,From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston, and New York to L.A.Well there's pride in every American heart, and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.

Have Fun but...be safe today!
