A Super Sunday!

***Correction: Apparantly they are not ducks in my pictures. I guess I didn't really think about it when Allison asked if we could feed the ducks. I just took her word for it. LOL! I guess it shows I'm not much of a bird person. Thanks to my sister and an anonymous reader for pointing that out to me.
Allison and I had a great Sunday. We headed over to my parents' house in the morning with fresh cut lilacs and homemade brownies. Yesterday was their 48th wedding anniversary so since we couldn't be there, we went on Sunday. We didn't have a party or anything. We just hung out and spent some quality time with them. I'm planning a yard sale at their house on the last Saturday of this month. The garage needed cleaned out so that's what Mom and I did. It was a beautiful day but fortunately there was a nice breeze so it wasn't too bad working in there for a few hours. Allison played outside. Dad cut the grass back around the barn. Allison kept looking back at him. I knew what she wanted. When he drove up to the garage to put the lawn mower away, I asked him to give her a ride. She lit up. She loves riding with Pap Pap. He took her for a ride around the property. She was thrilled.

After we left my Mom and Dad's, we decided to stop at Aunt Susan's (my best friend) to see the fish in her pond. She wasn't there but Uncle Brian was so he showed all the improvements he's done to their relaxing oasis just off their patio. The picture below is of the two of them. Aunt Susan, are you jelly belly that he got to see her and you didn't??
Next we decided to stop at Jerry's Curb Service for a bite to eat. All the old cars were out. The below picture is of a Chevrolet Malibu that was a couple of spaces next to us. Jerry's is the place for old cars to cruise through on a Sunday so we saw quite a few.
Next to Jerry's is Bruster's Real Ice Cream. A brain child of Bruce Reed whose Dad started Jerry's. He owns both of them and franchised out Bruster's. Can you say genius and millionaire? Anyway, we didn't get ice cream but there was an old Ford Thunderbird I wanted to get a closer look at. Isn't she pretty?
As we left Jerry's and Bruster's we drove along the river on our way home. There were quite a few boats out beginning their Summer of life on the river.
We decided to stop and see the ducks.
Miss Allison wanted to feed them the rest of her french fries from Jerry's.
As you can see, they are not shy!
If you live in the little town of Bridgewater, you have to cohabitate with the ducks. As you can see by the sign, they don't stay at the river. They walk all over town. Sometimes when you are eating at Jerry's they will come right up to your car for food.
We walked down to the dock along the river. This black and white one was a little different.
More little friends.
They get so close when you have food. We ran out so I promised Allison next time we'll stop and get some loaves of bread to feed them.
This picture was not zoomed. This is actually how close they come to you!
There was lots to see at the river. Can you see the blue engine of the train?
There were lots of people fishing. By the way, can you see how the town of Bridgewater got it's name?
Bye bye duckies! We'll see you next time!

Have Fun!

Sounds like you had an awesome day. Those are some awesome photos. The scrapbooker in me is already in my mind "laying them out". The one of Allison and Pap pap is priceless. WHat a great layout that will be. :)

How nice to see that you and Allison had such a great day -- especially the time with her grandparents. Great memories were made, I'm sure!

P.S. I used to take my 2 daughters to feed the ducks and geese at our local lake - I think what you have in your pictures are actually Canada Geese.
