Since being laid off, I've been very mindful of our expenses.
I've always been frugal but now I find myself really looking for deals and being very cautious of every penny I spend.
I try to stay out of the stores because it's just TEMPTATION, TEMPTATION, TEMPATION!
I haven't even been to Goodwill . . . and if you know me, THAT is an amazing accomplishment!
When I see something I like, I've been asking myself if it is a NEED or a WANT?
Unfortunately, most of the time, it's a want! So I put the item back on the shelf and move on.
HOWEVER . . . I was in the Dollar Tree the other day and came across this ADORABLE wine glass that says "Happy Birthday" on it.
Seriously! How CUTE is that?!?
I immediately knew that it was going home with me but in all fairness, I had to ask myself "the" question.
Is it a NEED or a WANT?
What do you think?
My first reaction was that it is a "pretty" so I needed to put it back.
BUT . . . you saw the "but" coming, didn't you??
I knew you were smart! . . . even though a picture of it on my counter was a dead give-a-way!
Let's get back to the BUT!
But, I changed my mind and decided it was a NEED!
Why a NEED?
Because my family is wonderful and anything I can do to celebrate the day God gave them life, I am going to do!
Yes! I decided that the $1.06 (includes tax) was well worth making my family feel special on their special day!
A new tradition has been born in our family and I love traditions!

Buy, Prep & Freeze!
I love to cook but I don't like spending hours in the kitchen. Well, sometimes I do.
I am all about tips and suggestions on how to make things easier and faster!
So with that being said, today I have a kitchen tip to share with you!
I'm sure you've seen these rotisserie chickens in your local grocery store and warehouse clubs. I've seen them at Giant Eagle, Sam's Club, Costco, Walmart and even the bigger Targets that have a bigger grocery section have them.
Have you ever tried them?
If not, go pick up one for dinner! They are yummy and cheap, cheap, cheap!
When I discovered these years ago, I may or may not have been known to bring it home, put it in my small roaster and throw it in the oven at a low temperature to keep warm while I buried the container in the trash. Then when Curtis came home, he may or may not have had the impression that I slaved over a delicious chicken just for him! Hmm...am I giving you any ideas?
Anyway, back to the kitchen tip. Not only does the rotisserie chicken make a quick dinner, it also can help you put a meal together rather quickly on any given night.
Sometimes I pick up a couple even when I am not planning on using them for dinner that night and this is what I do.
First, I debone the chicken. Hmm, that's a funny sounding word . . . debone. I think I'm going to use something else here.
Take two!
First, I remove all the meat from the chicken. You have to do this while the chicken is still warm. It's harder to do while it is cold. After I have done this, I cover it and put it into the refrigerator to cool.

After it's cooled, I chop it all up into bite size pieces.
And lastly, I divide it up equally and put the chicken into freezer bags (I get 2 bags per chicken) that I label with the contents and the date. When I put them into the freezer bags, I am sure to push all the air out of them before sealing. I also make them flat and lay them on a cookie sheet and put the whole cookie sheet in the freezer. Once they are frozen, I take out the cookie sheet and stack the frozen chicken nicely in my freezer.
As you can imagine, this makes life so easy!
When I have a casserole, soup or pot pie to make, the chicken part is already done!
I also do this with ham and ground beef.

I also do this with ham and ground beef.
For the ham, I'll buy a quarter of a ham and get 2 portions
out of it for scalloped potatoes and ham or breakfast casserole.
My Dad supplies me with beef from his cattle. So when I am back home visiting, I'll bring home 10 pounds of ground beef. I'll brown off 5 lbs. of it and package it in 1 pound portions. It is then ready for chili, meat sauce, lasagna, soups, shepherd's pie, etc. I also make some of it into taco meat before I freeze it so when it's taco/taco salad night, I'm ready to go!
Speaking of food and recipes, I tried a new one a couple of weeks ago for a Marsala Chicken Casserole. I'll put it up on my food blog in the next couple of days. I was a little hesitant when I tried it but the whole family loved it!
Do you have any kitchen tips you would like to share? Please feel free to leave them in the comments!

Unused Cards of Christmases Past!
Do you have unused Christmas and Holiday cards from years past like I do?
What do you do with them?
I don't know why but I keep them in a zippered baggy in my office closet.
Honestly, am I ever going to sent them out??
Heck no!
Well. Here is the answer to getting rid of or letting go of all those cards from Christmases past!
SEND THEM TO OUR HEROES!
Here is my stash of what I'm sending!
Now for the details!
The American Red Cross heads up the card collection and distribution.
The program is called "Holiday Mail for Heroes."
Click here to go to their website for all the details.
Below are the Card Guidelines directly from their site:
Every card received will be screened for hazardous materials by
Pitney Bowes and then reviewed by Red Cross volunteers working around the
country.
Please observe the following guidelines to ensure a quick
reviewing process:
- Ensure that all cards are signed.
- Use generic salutations such as “Dear Service Member.” Cards addressed to specific individuals can not be delivered through this program.
- Only cards are being accepted. Do not send or include letters.
- Do not include email or home addresses on the cards: the program is not meant to foster pen pal relationships.
- Do not include inserts of any kind, including photos: these items will be removed during the reviewing process.
- Please refrain from choosing cards with glitter or using loose glitter as it can aggravate health issues of ill and injured warriors.
- If you are mailing a large quantity of cards, please bundle them and place them in large mailing envelopes or flat rate postal shipping boxes. Each card does not need its own envelope, as envelopes will be removed from all cards before distribution.
All holiday greetings should be addressed and sent to:
Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456
The deadline for having cards to the P.O Box is Friday, December 7th.
That is NEXT Friday, so get to it!
Mine are on their way!

Is TP, TMI?
Yes. I've lost it!
I am doing a blog post about Toilet Paper and I don't care if it's TMI (too much information)!
No, I'm not interested if you roll your toilet paper over or under. I don't judge you. I love you for you!
The reason why I am chatting about toilet paper today is something that I've recently discovered that makes me VERY HAPPY!
Are you ready?
This is as amazing as sliced bread! Promise!
Did you know that you could buy a case of toilet paper online and have it delivered to your door for free shipping?
I know!
What? You knew that?
Well joy, joy, happy, happy for you!
Seriously, for those of you that didn't know, now you do!
You can go to Amazon.com and they have toilet paper and other household items that you can order online. Also, if you spend more than $25, they will ship it for FREE!
(Just be sure it qualifies for the free shipping.)
And if you have Amazon Prime, it's shipped free even if it's under $25.
(I do and I ordered a case last Monday and it was on my porch on Tuesday of the same week!)
Why does this make me happy? Well let me just tell you!
- Toilet paper is something I hate running out of . . . for obvious reasons!
- I like buying it in bulk and usually buy it from Sam's Club. (What FAMILY really buys a 4 roll pack? It would never come off their shopping list!)
- I hate having to put the big bulk package in my shopping cart and then into my car. Shhh! I heard that! I know I'm weird so you don't have to say it out loud!
- When I buy it from Amazon, I get even more than I get at Sam's. I get a whole CASE! Did you
hearread that? A.WHOLE. CASE! - And lastly, I don't have to do anything but bring it in the house and put it away! Happy, happy, joy, joy for me!
Oh, one last thing . . . Amazon puts it on sale too!
I only order it when it's on sale and it does costs a couple more dollars by buying it online. The couple extra dollars is SO worth me not having to go to Sam's and getting it myself!
If anyone is interested, click here to see all of the toilet paper that Amazon offers.
And if you care whether people are over or under toilet paper rollers, here's a little info on the subject.
I'm in the 70% but you probably already figured that out if you read my blog on a regular basis!
Have Fun!

A Lesson from a Stranger!
I have been so busy over the last several days that I haven't had time to do my Thanksgiving Day meal shopping. This is a stress point for me.
After I put Allison on the bus this morning, I headed out to start my list of about 38 things that I need to do today.
I had gotten most of it done at the first store I went to but needed a few more items. I headed over to Walmart and picked up the rest. I hate going to Walmart but that's a whole other post! Anyway, since the lines were already ridiculously long at 9:42 in the morning, I decided to do the self-checkout and hurry on my way.
I ran one more errand after that and then went home and started to unload my groceries. I noticed that I had forgotten my last two bags at Walmart. SERIOUSLY!!!!
Frustrated and angry at myself for being so stupid, I hurried back to Walmart to pick up my bags.
I scolded myself the whole way! "Cindi, you should pay attention to what you are doing and not think about the next items on your to do list." "Cindi, now you are behind schedule because you have to backtrack." Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
After I picked them up I went to the Redbox at the front of the store to grab Allison a movie for tonight. On my way to the Redbox, an older gentleman was sitting on the bench just inside the doors and was telling everyone coming and going "Good Morning, Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless."
As I was standing there selecting a movie, I realized that "someone" far greater than myself had made me forget those last two bags requiring me to return to Walmart.
You see, that gentleman was not there when I was there earlier. I don't know if he was waiting on his wife or had nothing better to do than spread some good cheer. Whatever the reason, I am so glad I had to go back for those bags.
In those few minutes that I listened to him while I stood there trying to select a movie, I recognized that it's not about stressing to get my list done today. It's about being thankful for this wonderful life we've been given and sharing the happiness with others.
Thank you, God, for slowing me down and making me see what is important in this life you've given us. You definitely work in mysterious ways!
And to all of you out there . . . "Good Morning, Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless!"
Have Fun!

Slacking?
It's been a few days since I have last posted. Not that anyone would have noticed since I feel like I'm speaking typing to a big, black hole out in blogland.
Anyway, if you are sitting out in that big, black hole wondering if I was slacking on my blog posts or not, the answer would be . . . NOPE! I actually have been too busy to blog! I have been getting things done and it feels so good!

In the last 5 days I have:
- Purchased 7 Christmas gifts. Woo hoo, I am almost done!
- Went shopping and had lunch with lifelong friend at Olive Garden. Yum! Yum!
- Cleaned out my office at my old job. Now I can officially move on to where I'm supposed to be!
- Bought Curtis 2 new shirts and 3 new sweaters for work . . . for $20! Gotta love Goodwill!
- Had a Mommy & Allison lunch on Veteran's Day. I love our hanging out with her!
- Taken Allison to Baldingers.
- Attended Parent Visitation at Allison's school. Loved it!
- Purchased books at the Book Fair at Allison's school. Probably cheaper on Amazon but it is for the kids!
- Fixed Allison's Kindle Fire and she was doubtful that I could do it! Ha ha!
- Played with an adorable orange kitten . . . and no, it's not coming home with us!
- Met a man from craigslist . . . to sell him my old coffee table.
- Done 8 loads of laundry and Mt. Washmore is still down in the basement!
- Been taken out to dinner by a handsome man and his adorable daughter. ;)
- Made my Thanksgiving grocery list out . . . even though I can shop until the Tuesday before.
- Filled out Allison permission slip for her Academic Games competition on Monday. I can't wait to finally go to one!
- Spent too much money at Staples! What is new?
- Stuffed my Christmas cards into their envelopes. Now to address and stamp them!
- Planned the next few blog posts but now I need to write them.
- Cleaned out my purse and it's so much lighter without all the change I throw in the bottom!
- Talked to a very lovely lady at career service place that was extremely helpful by suggesting places to look for employment. I'm hoping to meet her in person next week.
So. As you can see I'm the ONLY one that hasn't been slacking around here during the day!
Simba likes to sleep on the top of the cat tree during the day.
And Porsche a.k.a. "The Baby" likes to sleep on top of the couch
Geez, with all this slacking going on, it's amazing I'm not crashed out during the day too!

Knock, Knock! Take Me Home!
Last week as I was taking Allison to school, I saw this beauty leaning on a dumpster at an apartment complex nearby. She was gorgeous! I fell in love instantly! . . . or maybe it was lust!
Anyway. As I was driving by her, I heard this ever so faint little voice saying, "Take me home. You know you want to. Curtis won't mind." I shook my head and continued to drive.
I dropped Allison off at school and went to pick up some groceries. I'm in the freezer section of the grocery store minding my own business and I hear: "You want me. Take me home. I can make you happy. You'll regret it if you don't." I slowly turned my head to look around for the softly spoken woman's voice. Hmm, strangely enough there was no one there. And the last time I checked neither Ben or Jerry had a softly spoken woman's voice! Could it have been that beauty I saw earlier in the morning? Nah, I wasn't any where near her!
So. I paid for my groceries, loaded them in the car and headed home. Funny thing though, the voice got stronger and louder and SASSIER! It was not a sweet voice any longer. It now said, "TAKE! ME! HOME!"
So I did.
And here she is . . . . . . isn't she just lovely????
Yay, Curtis thought so too. Well, maybe not but he humored me!
She's needs a little work to make her really pretty. However, I'm afraid she's going to have to wait until spring. We do not have a garage and I don't want her outside in the elements while I give her a makeover.
She's going to hang out with us in the family room when I am done making her pretty. I can't wait! I'll be sure to share it with you when she's all dolled up! But for now, here are some door makeovers for you to see. I found them all on Pinterest. I've attached the link to those that have them and noted that below the pictures.

Lunch with the Girls!
I have no time for a post this morning! I am meeting my BFF, Susan and her daughter, Stephanie, for a girls' lunch. Happy Day! I have a couple of stops before then so I have to jump in the shower in a few minutes and get moving! Lucky Curtis, he gets to sleep in since Allison is sleeping over at Grandma & Pa Pa's!

This is how I imagine our lunch:
This is more like our reality . . . without the cigarette!

Tell Me What is on Your Mind, Baby Girl!
A year or so ago, I found myself struggling as a Mother. I felt that I must have been doing something wrong because Allison wasn't the Allison she once was. She wasn't happy all the time like she used to be. She was cranky. She complained about everything. She was not not nice to be around. Quite frankly, I didn't like the person I thought she was becoming. I felt the strong connection we once had with each other was slowly slipping away.
Of course as I usually do with most things, I blamed myself. I told myself that it was because I was working full time. It was because I couldn't give her the attention that she needed. I felt that if I didn't have such a stressful job, then I would have more energy in the evening to be the Mom I wanted to be . . . instead it took everything I had just to get through homework, dinner, bath and bedtime.
I shared this with her teacher last year. Thankfully, she said she didn't see all of this in class. However, she did tell me that she was about to tell me something that I probably didn't want to hear. Oh. My. Word! I gasped! What could it be????? Those few seconds ripped through my soul just anticipating what I was about to hear about my once sweet baby girl! I braced myself and her teacher said "puberty." Oh geez! I had not even thought about that! Allison is physically such a tiny little thing that I sometimes forget that she is maturing! The teacher was wrong! I am so glad she brought that to my attention. It was the answer to my frustration and self-persecution! Amen!
The teacher also shared with me that I shouldn't be too concerned with how she is at home. Was she serious??? Did she not know that I sometimes referred to her as the spawn of the devil??? Anyway, once she explained, I understood. She said that Allison was a perfectly sweet, well-mannered little girl with a great sense of humor who was always kind and sweet to everyone in her class. WHAT??? Were we talking about the same kid???? She continued . . . she said that I should be thankful that we've created an environment at home where Allison can feel comfortable and safe. That she can let her hair down and just relax in the comfort of our home when she isn't at her best. I'll take that! It was a great compliment!
So. Now that I knew puberty was to blame for what we had been going through, I needed to find a way to bridge the gap in our relationship that was slowly getting larger. I knew the most difficult time for a Mother and a daughter was just a few years away and if I didn't handle this right away, things could really get ugly.
One of the things I saw on a blog several years ago was a Mother/Daughter journal. Sadly, they had lost their youngest child in a horrific, backyard, freak accident. Their therapist had suggested this journal idea to the Mother for a way to communicate with her older daughters. I thought it was a such a great idea! I put it back in my arsenal of Mom ideas that I may need some day.
I think the day had come that I needed to pull this idea out and put it to use. I found this hardback journal and thought it was perfect for keeping the "peace" between Allison and I.
One the inside front cover, I wrote a little letter to Allison explaining what the journal was and how it was to be used.
"Allison,
This book is between just you and me. It's for no one else to see. If you have a question, thought, or some love to share, use this journal and put it under my pillow. I will write back with my thoughts, questions, and love and return it to under your pillow.
Love,
Mom
XOXOXO"
I share it, here on my blog, not just because it's a great idea but to share a few my observations of the benefits of this journal.
If you have a daughter, I highly suggest you start one. She will get to know you a little better and you will get an inside look into the person she is becoming. It doesn't take much time at all. It is not an every day thing for us. We use it when we need it.

I share it, here on my blog, not just because it's a great idea but to share a few my observations of the benefits of this journal.
- Some of the questions Allison has asked in this journal, she has never spoken of or mentioned before. This makes me realize there is a lot going on in that brain of hers. By having this tool of communication, she can ask questions or bring up subjects that she may not feel comfortable approaching in person.
- Since some of the questions are "heavy", this allows me time to think it through and answer her with my perspective on the subject in detail and completely. If I need to ask her Daddy about his opinion on the subject, again, I have time before replying.
- Another benefit of this journal is that it is used as a reference book. Allison can look back on it to review my perspective or advice on the subjects we address in this book.
If you have a daughter, I highly suggest you start one. She will get to know you a little better and you will get an inside look into the person she is becoming. It doesn't take much time at all. It is not an every day thing for us. We use it when we need it.

Yesterday's Results!
Not that you get your news from my blog but I felt the need to post the results of the 2012 Presidential Election. I hesitated at first because it's my personal policy not to discuss politics publicly. I just feel too much nastiness results from individuals on opposing sides trying to promote/discuss/defend their candidates. I'm happy for the passion that voters have about our candidates and our country. It's just too often the "discussion" turns ugly and I would rather not be a part of it. After all, let's face it. We all are individuals and are not ever going to agree on everything. However, we do have to live next to each other, work together, shop at the same grocery store and attend the same church. At the end of the day, we need to get along in spite of our differences of opinion and be examples to our children. The nastiness that results from opposing political sides is not the example I want to set for my child. We have impressed upon our daughter that no matter if you agree or disagree on the outcome of the election, you must and will support and respect the individual that holds the position. You don't have to like his choices but you will give him the respect he deserves. Okay...enough said!

Congratulations, President Obama on your re-election!
May you bring this country back together as one nation under God!
And just because I can't believe how much Sasha & Malia have grown, here is a photo from the 2008 Election. Haven't the girls grown into beautiful young women! Truth be told, I kind of feel sorry for them having to live their teenage and high school years in the White House!
Can you imagine a boy calling to talk to Sasha? . . . Let alone trying to ask her to prom?
Have Fun!

Trick-or-Treat 2012
Thanks to Hurricane Sandy, our trick-or-treat was moved to Saturday, November 3rd. Saturday turned out to be a cold and wet day. I did not want to go. In fact, I offered Allison $20 and a trip to Baldinger's instead of going trick-or-treating but she wasn't having it! So, I did what any dedicated Mother would do and sucked it up.
Allison wanted to go as a Gothic Nerd. We did our best to come up with her "level" of Gothic . . . which was really just the skull skirt, suspenders, hair bows, black clothing and dark lipstick. I'm so glad she didn't want to go to the extreme!
To the left here is my little observation of the candy given out these days.
Please do not think I'm complaining, because I would rather not have any candy in this house. This is just my observation.
The Hershey bar is a regular size candy bar. One house gave them out and the kids walking away from the house were all commenting. I also gave out the full size Hershey bars but I only had to buy 6 since that is all we ever get at our house - our little group.
Anyway, look at the size of the Kit Kat! It is like 1/8 the size of a normal sized bar. I haven't seen anything so small! It probably costs more to make the wrapper than the candy!
Hope you had a great Halloween and Trick-or-Treat!

She wears the "nerd" look so well!
The neighborhood trick-or-treaters.
Usually it's just Allison and the three boys who are on the step with her. However, we picked up 3 more this year. The pirate and the little princess just moved into our neighborhood a couple of months ago from Oklahoma and we also had a little lion who moved here from Nebraska a couple of months ago too. Although, our little lion was 18 months old and did not want to stand still for a picture.

Silent Sunday's Inspiration!
Starting with today, I am going to follow many blogs out in blogland and designate Sundays as silent on my blog. I'm not going to chat about anything. I know! It's going to be hard for me to keep my mouth shut but I know I can do it . . . although Curtis will disagree! Love you, honey!
I'm actually going to go one step further and share a picture, a quote, a prayer, a funny or something that inspires or speaks to me. I hope you enjoy!

Finally a Welcome!
We live in a townhouse and unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of opportunities to show your personality on the exterior of your home. The homeowners association frowns upon changing any exterior colors. If I had my way, my front door wouldn't be white but it is what it is so I make the best of it. Actually, maybe it's a good thing I'm not allowed to paint my own front door....I do have pink, green, tan and lilac walls on the inside of my home! Gosh, can you imagine if we were all allowed to paint our own colors on the outside? It would probably look like Willy Wonka threw up!
Anyway. A couple of years ago, I ordered the word "Welcome" in black vinyl to put on my front door. It's been sitting on top of my refrigerator ever since it came in. I'm kind of getting tired of moving it when I dust up there so it was time to put the puppy on the front door! Actually, I didn't want to put it on because the front door needed painted and who has time to paint the front door? Not me! Well the HOA hired someone to paint all of our front doors. Bonus!!! Lucky for me!!!
What do you think?
I know it has been around blogland for sometime and it's old news but I LOVE it!
It just sets us apart from the other front doors!
I think Mr. & Mrs. Pilgrim love it too!
(Sorry for the glare from the storm door!)

They Don't Make Bakeries Like This Anymore!
Now that I am back to blogging (at least for now), I'm going about my day differently. Well if not differently, at least I'm thinking more about the daily events of my day.
I find myself thinking about blog posts.
I find myself looking for inspiration for blog posts.
I find myself . . . well . . . BORING!
Seriously, my life isn't that exciting!
For example, my inspiration for today was my morning coffee cup. Yay! See what I mean! BOOORRRRRRING!
Oh well! As the title of my blog states, "This is My Life..." Hmm, maybe I should change it to "This is My BORING Life!" Anyway, I'm happy with MY life . . . well most of it. If I could, I would change a few things but they are not the really important things so I guess I'm doing pretty good.
Okay, back to our regularly scheduled blog post:
When I said in my title that "They don't make bakeries like this anymore!", I meant it.
Kretchmar's Bakery in Beaver, Pennsylvania has been around since 1960. It is on its third generation of owners in the same family. Kretchmar's is a traditional hometown bakery.
Kretchmar's is located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. Beaver County is where I grew up. Even though I wish I still lived in that county (for many reasons), I am glad that I live in the neighboring county of Butler.
You see, if I still lived there, I would be a 1000 pounds and broke!
Kretchmar's is one of my weaknesses . . . or maybe it's an addiction!
I'm not sure which but it's definitely my drug of choice!
And with so many of the hometown bakeries dying off, I make it my personal mission to help Kretchmar's stay in business every time I go home for a visit.
Yup! That's it! They need me! Seriously, they do!
Okay, okay! They really don't but at least in my mind they do!
Please let me have that at least!
Please let me have that at least!
I hope you enjoy the little tour I've put together for you of Kretchmar's Bakery!
Kretchmar's Bakery is located on Third Street in Beaver which is actually the main street through town.
Whether you are coming from the left or . . .
. . . the right, you can't miss the hometown feel of this bakery.
As you step through the front door, you are greeted by 3 huge display cases of the most delectable confections you could ever imagine. Fresh baked breads and doughnuts are located in the display wall behind the middle display case.
A closer look to the left and there are many traditional cookies along with iced sugar cookies of the current season.
The display case to the right holds the most amazing selection of tortes to tempt you. They even make them in mini versions that serves two. They are just perfect for a sweet treat after a home cooked meal with your hunny or you could just leave the mini torte in the fridge and take a bite of it every time you open the door. Not that I would have ever done that!
Yes, as President Obama was traveling through Beaver in July of this year, he stopped at Kretchmar's and picked up an Apple Pie and some cookies. (Please do not leave any political comments or nastiness on this blog. Currently, he is the sitting President and deserves respect for being the leader of this country.)
And now for some of the goodies!
They have everything....
Chocolate chip cookes
Butterball cookies
Butter with sprinkles cookies
Brownies
Eclairs
Cinnamon swirl donuts
Claws filled with apricot, raspberry or nut fillings.
All types of danish filled with almond, apple, apricot, blueberry, cheese, cherry, cinnamon, lemon, pineapple, or raspberry fillings. These are one of my favorites! They are so moist and yummy!
Maple-nut danish
Orange danish cup
Cream puffs
Cannoli
Peanut butter bars
Lady locks
Raspberry almond torte . . . TO DIE FOR!
Peanut Butter Torte
Pumpkin cheesecake torte which is a seasonal item.
The Toasted Almond Torte has won many awards and not in just Beaver County. It's well known by Pittsburghers as well!
They even have a Peppermint torte for the Christmas holiday.
If you are going to a Steeler party, you can always order a Black & Gold tray to take with you.
These are my absolute favorite item that I pick up every time I stop there. Their petit fours are the best that I have ever had. They are little squares of white cake with vanilla icing. They have ones with chocolate icing too but I am a white cake with white icing girl. I've never tried the chocolate. This little deliciousness of goodness satisfies my craving for their cakes which is absolutely better than taking the whole cake home with me!
Mom used to always get us a Kretchmar cake for birthdays and special occasions. Unless I'm baking or making Allison's cake myself, I try to get one of their cakes for her as well.
Kretchmar's also has a Prize Wheel and they bring it out every Third Thursday of the month. If you spend $20 or more, you get to spin the wheel. That's how I got my mug!
If you are ever in Beaver or heck, if you are ever within 100 miles of Beaver, PA be sure to stop by Kretchmar's and treat yourself to a little sweet treat.
Your family will thank you and attack you when they see the brown and white striped box!
You never know who you might see . . . the President of the United States or
little old me!
Have Fun!
